All of these compositions were recorded on a beloved Zoom MRS-1266, 8 track recorder, sadly departed. It was always an ambition to release tracks that I produced from home, and thanks to US indie label Three Sixty Records, I put out Butterfly House EP in 2010 and Photograph EP 2012.
I enjoyed every second of recording these tracks, from the endless faffing around with the on board drum machine, to the cigarette's (also sadly departed) I smoked during every play back . There's something about home recording that can't be replicated in a studio. The lack of an audience allows a zero performance approach, which I favour. It also deducts the gesture of the 'producer thumbs up or down', which after some experience, turns out I don't favour.
Compiling the tracks was a surprisingly pleasant experience, and one that I hope to pass on to you. Enjoy listening, and during (if you do partake) please feel free to smoke a cigarette for me.
Reviews for the EP's at time of release.
'Paul makes atmospheric music from the soul via the heart. It has a raw quality to it, full of wide open spaces & emotional leanings that pull you in like a venus fly trap-linger too long and swoosh-you are his!'
Fresh on the Net
'This haunting spectral music will seep into your soul and steal it.'
Electric Ghost Journal
'You may well find these transparently beautiful sounds become an integral part of your landscape.'
'Poignant and ethereal blues music.'
